INFECTIOUS DISEASE CLINIC (ID) OUR MISSION As a component of the Infectious Disease Clinic, the HIV Outpatient Program (HOP) subscribes to the mission of the Ambulatory Care Division and Interim LSU Public Hospital (click here for a list of other LSU ambulatory/outpatient clinics). HOP is committed to providing quality health care to adults and children living with HIV and AIDS, with an emphasis on health maintenance, promotion and disease prevention. Care rendered is comprehensive, interdisciplinary and in partnership with the consumer. We are committed to a health care system that protects consumer confidentiality, maximizes community input, and respects cultural diversity of both staff and consumers. HIV SERVICES DELIVERED AT THE INFECTIOUS DISEASE CLINIC CLINICAL RESEARCH EDUCATION OUR HISTORY HOP's history began in 1987 as an outgrowth of the Medical Center of Louisiana/Charity Infectious Disease Clinic, continued through its transformation into the Ted Wisniewski Center of Excellence for the Treatment of Immunodeficiency Diseases, and today is rebuilding after the many changes wrought by Hurricane Katrina and the subsequent flooding caused by levee failures.
