ID CLINIC/HOP

The HIV Outpatient Program (HOP) is an established Ambulatory Care Department under the Interim LSU Public Hospital (formerly known as the Medical Center of Louisiana at New Orleans and Charity Hospital). Professional services are administered by the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Department of Medicine, Section of Infectious Disease, Division of HIV, and the Interim LSU Public Hospital. Since its inception in 1987, HOP has provided care to great numbers of adults, adolescents and children infected with HIV/AIDS. The primary focus of the program is care and treatment of HIV/AIDS-infected persons, support and coordination for the affected significant others, disease prevention, research and health promotion.

HOP continually strives to improve the access and delivery of care to HIV/AIDS-infected and affected members of our community by envisioning, planning and evaluating the health care delivery it provides. The program has evolved into a center of excellence serving residents of Greater New Orleans and the rest of the state of Louisiana. Learn more about HOP's history.

The Infectious Disease Clinic/HOP provides multidisciplinary services through the use of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, dentists, dental hygienists, health educators, nutritionists, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, pharmacists, pharmacy techs, radiology techs, phlebotomists, case managers, research staff, and administrative staff.
