CLINICAL EDUCATION AT ID/HOP

Delta Region AIDS Education and Training Center
educates clinicians (physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists) about the rapidly-changing standards of care for individuals with HIV/AIDS. CE Programs for Clinicians
Clinical preceptorship courses are held in New Orleans for these clinician groups: (1) MDs, NPs and PAs (2) APRNs and RNs (3) dentists and hygienists. Mini-residencies are arranged for individual clinicians upon request.

Case Consultation with HIV Specialists
Consultants are affiliated with state university medical centers and have expertise in treating/caring for HIV/AIDS patients. Calls by clinicians to 504-903-0623 are forwarded to peer consultants who return calls with 48 hours (excluding holidays and weekends). Calls are answered during business hours (Central Time) on weekdays. Voicemail is available 24 hours a day. Louisiana 504-903-0623.

HIV Treatment Guidelines
Rapid dissemination of treatment guidelines and the complex changes that occur as treatment evolves is a prime focus of Delta Region AETC. The target group for this dissemination effort consists of identified HIV treaters.

HIV Clinician Periodical
A publication for clinicians is published each quarter. Contributing writers are Delta AETC faculty members with expertise in treating HIV/AIDS patients. HIV Clinician is disseminated to identified HIV clinicians and is available on the Delta Region AETC website at deltaaetc.org. HIV Clinician articles are included in the PubMed and Cinahl databases and are thus available to physicians and medical professionals around the globe.
